The Impacts of Dietary Curcumin on Innate Immune Responses and Antioxidant Status in Greater Amberjack (Seriola dumerili) under Ammonia Stress

In this study, we investigated the effect of dietary curcumin on non-specific immune responses and antioxidative ability in Seriola dumerili under ammonia stress post-recovery. Three diets were prepared to contain 0, 75, 150 mg/kg curcumin. A total 225 greater amberjack (initial weight: 100.90 ± 0.03 g) distributed into nine cylindrical tanks, constituting an experimental design with three treatments replicates. After 56 days feeding, plasma, intestinal, hepatic enzyme activities evaluated. Then, acute challenge experiment was conducted. Ten fish per tank subjected (total ammonia-N: 1000 mg/L) for eight minutes followed by six recovery. The results indicated that significantly promoted intestinal alkaline phosphatase (ALP) acid (ACP) levels as well enzymes such superoxide dismutase (SOD), antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), reduced glutathione (GSH), peroxidase (GSH-Px) amberjack. addition, addition improved enzymes, SOD, T-AOC, GSH, GSH-Px, catalase (CAT), malondialdehyde (MDA) content liver, spleen, head kidney, brain tissues after indexes related immunity gill, spleen rose again some extent, but they showed worst recovery kidney tissue samples. These indicate supplementation could increase responses, ability, enhance resistance high juvenile S. dumerili.
